Ok I have to admit....for me...keeping a blog is much harder than I thought. It isnt like facebook where it's more spontaneous. a blog has to have alot more words and alot more content...at least that is my very humble opinion.
I have been at my desk for the entire day and my close girlfriend has just told me of a birthday present she recieved which she thought was indeed very sincere and meaningful. And I completely agree. The gift bought for my girlfriend is an hour's worth of recording in a studio. Quite a fancy and interesting gift...especially for a person who can pretty much hold her own concert during our K-sessions. Interestingly enough...she mentioned that her hubby doesnt know what to get for her...and so...hasnt gotten her anything.
I guess the point of this post is really not to compare the value of presents nor the fact that the hubby didnt get her anything. The point I wish to make today is this: It used to be meaningful enough to receive a handwritten card from a friend....or a small note..and it often wasnt only during a birthday that we get these notes and cards. It would be so random it will never fail to brighten up our day. But alas...this seems to only happen in yesteryears when we this (X/Y?) generation were in school. I wonder if the kids today still have that practice actually...with the proliferation of mobile and iPhones to the young ones...I wont be surprised the "communication" and "cards" passed to each other are through comments and "Likes" on FB.
Such a sad plight to me. I still relish receiving little notes and cards here and there. I feel it is most personal and it would be what I want....more than an expensive gift on that one birthday once a year. Maybe I am still living in my school day years..maybe I am nolstalgic....maybe.....
